The Department of Psychology welcomed Assistant Professor Kate Hebert this semester as a new faculty member. Hebert specializes in cognitive and cognitive neuroscience research areas with a focus on visual perception and language.

Hebert received her B.A. in psychology from Gonzaga University in 2013 and her Ph.D. in cognitive science from Arizona State University in 2019. She worked as a graduate research and teaching associate for the ASU psychology department before accepting her new position at Colorado State University. While there she earned the Teaching Excellence Award in 2018. Herbert is looking forward to the next chapter in her life and is happy to return to the state of Colorado where she grew up.

Hebert is a member of many prestigious groups including the Psychonomic Society, the American Psychological Association (Division 3: Society for Experimental Psychology and Cognitive Science), the Association for Women in Science, and the Association for Women in Cognitive Science. She was also the recipient of the 2017 Keith Rayner Memorial Award at the European Conference on Eye Movements in Wuppertal, Germany.

Hebert’s background in cognitive neuroscience is already serving her well at CSU. Her first semester included teaching the Biological Psychology and Sensation and Perception courses. She also took the reigns as coordinator of the Neuroscience Laboratory courses.
